Cadenza is open to anyone over eleven, including school pupils, undergraduates, postgraduates and amateur adults, and delivers solo and chamber lessons, usually half and half, but the balance can be varied by request. Older students in pre-formed ensembles often wish to focus on advanced chamber coaching and to enjoy the late night mixed staff/student chamber scene. Conversely every year students reach the final stages of competitions like the BBC, and need to focus on their solo work.' Held Mid July.

‘Has performed the G&S operas annually since its foundation in September 1950. We have remained firmly based in the village of Abbots Langley, although now our members come from a much wider area. Gone are the days when, as quoted after the very first production, “You could meet the whole cast by walking up and down Abbots Langley High Street”. As well as our main annual production, we always try to perform each year in our home village with a concert or small production in the local village hall.’

‘We are an amateur symphony orchestra based in Abbots Langley with players drawn from the village and surrounding area. We normally give three concerts each year ... We don't believe there are many villages that have their own symphony orchestra full of committed and talented players, under a professional conductor. Abbots Langley does!‘

’Since 1975, the BSO has been bringing live, high quality orchestral music to Bushey. In the early days the orchestra was financially supported by Hertsmere Council, but like so much arts funding, this was cut several years ago. We currently promote a series of five concerts per year and have an annual turnover of approximately £25,000. Over recent years, concerts have become extremely costly events to mount; music societies are finding sufficient funding a major challenge at the moment and the Bushey Symphony Orchestra is no different ... (There are) a number of ways in which you might support the BSO - please consider doing this and help us plan a bright and exciting future for this wonderful orchestra.'

‘A group composed of high standard amateur and professional guitarists. It was founded in 1993 by Tom Parsons to develop ideas he had for creating a unique sound by composing and arranging music to be performed by a large group that combined classical guitars with electric and bass guitars. The orchestra developed rapidly into a regularly performing concert group with a surprisingly big sound and a wide-ranging repertoire spanning classical, rock and world music that made for a very listenable and highly entertaining concert programme.’

‘An energetic student-led youth orchestra, founded in 2014 by its conductor and artistic director, Daniel Hogan. The orchestra has grown from a small chamber orchestra to a wealth of 100 regular members, with the talented musicians coming from local youth orchestras, the junior and senior conservatoires, and venturing from universities all over the country to come and play. Ever since, its aim has been to perform works considered incredibly ambitious and brave – pieces which therefore its members may not have had the chance to perform before.’
