‘One of the finest venues in the South East of England for folk, acoustic and roots music. Our aim is to create a relaxed and intimate atmosphere to allow you to enjoy the best in music to the fullest in our convivial surroundings ... We have been running since 1983. Every Friday (apart from our summer break in August, and at Christmas and Easter) we bring you a fabulous programme of Folk and Acoustic music, with artists and bands at the top of their game. We only put on guests we like ourselves, and there is a very special kind of warmth and friendliness about the club which makes an evening here so enjoyable. Such is our reputation that we often have guests who don't normally play in a small venue like ours, and they love it so much they clamour to come back!’

'Founded in 1963 by a small group of enthusiasts to sing madrigals and unaccompanied motets from the 16th century onwards; the first concert was given in 1965 ... We welcome new members. We do not audition, but familiarity with reading music is helpful. Some of us can sing from sight, some work out the parts on instruments at home and some learn from the wealth of sources available on the internet, such as Youtube and choralmidi. As a beginner it's possible simply to copy what the person next to you is singing!'

'EYT was set up to bridge the gap between school and adult drama, specifically aimed at young people between the ages of 15 and 25 ... Two major productions are usually presented each year ... normally a musical in the winter and either a musical or straight play in the summer. This gives everyone a chance to be involved, and to use whatever performance skills they have - whether it's acting, singing or dancing or all three!'

‘In the Baroque period, the ripieno was the orchestral ensemble in a concerto grosso, in textural opposition to the concertino. In choral music, those singers who were soloists (concertisten) were distinguished from those who supported them (ripienisten) ...  Ripieno is a small chamber choir of around thirty singers ... based in Esher. We perform a range of sacred and secular music, specialising in the music of Renaissance and Baroque periods. Much of the repertoire is unaccompanied, but when additional forces are called for the choir is able to attract first-class professional soloists and specialist instrumental ensembles.’
