South Devon Singers were asked to organise a Classical Music Festival in late 2012: with just 10 weeks notice we were able to put on a credible one-day Festival in early March 2013. For 2014 and 2015 the Festival was extended to run from the Friday to Sunday evening of the first weekend of March ... 2018 will be the sixth Festival and has been extended to fill two weekends with musical offerings, concerts now available to a wider audience, including playing in nearby Chudleigh.’ Held Early March.

Shanties were songs sung by such workers as sailors, miners and rail workers in rhythm with their work. They have become particularly popular over recent years due to the exposure of people like the "Fisherman's Friends". Teignmouth and Shaldon will play host to at least  26 shanty groups performing in 15 venues and providing over 120 hours of "free to attend" shanty singing ... There promises to be something for everyone, with multiple performances being given at the same time across a range of venues - mainly local hostelries - as well as outdoor ad hoc flash mob shanty singing and workshops where people can learn more about the origins of shanties. The event is also being supported by a number of South Devon breweries.’ Held Late September.

‘A choir of about 80 singers. We give two concerts a year, in December and May ... There is no audition. An ability to read music is an advantage, but more important are enthusiasm and a commitment to attend rehearsals. There is a short waiting list for all sections of the choir.’

Formed 2009: ‘A community choir for people who like to sing for fun ... Locally, we have become well known for our wide and ever-increasing repertoire of songs. These include songs from shows and musicals ... We almost always perform as a whole choir, but occasionally our members perform solos or duets. Our musical director is more than happy for members to suggest new material ... Our Christmas repertoire is particularly enchanting ...’. At Review: ‘Due to our popularity, the need to keep a balance of voices in the choir and the number of Sopranos and Altos who joined us last year, we are not recruiting any new members for these sections for the time being’.
