+ Hallam Sinfonia
Listing Details
‘The Hallam Sinfonia was originally set up as a chamber orchestra by a group of local peripatetic music teachers ... The orchestra has however seen many changes ... and is certainly no longer a chamber orchestra, though its forces may be scaled down on occasion. Its repertoire extends from the baroque to the 21st century, including large- scale romantic works, and from the mainstream classics to film music and children’s concerts. This range of activity is designed to meet a variety of needs: to please audiences with old favourites, to draw in new audiences (including children and young people), to provide players with exciting challenges, to make best use of the resources the orchestra has at its disposal, and sometimes to enable collaboration with other organisations.’
