‘We are an enthusiastic amateur orchestra playing to a high standard ... formed in September 1986 by a group of friends who wanted to create a new and exciting entity in amateur orchestral terms. The philosophy of the Sinfonia is that enjoyment is derived by aiming for the highest possible standard of ensemble playing and to this end the orchestra is selective in its concert giving while at the same time building up a wide repertoire of works in rehearsal.’
