Forthcoming Concerts and Recitals

’The Society is well established, having given its first performance in 1949. Since then it has provided regular concerts in Sunderland with a repertoire which has been mainly classical - sacred and secular - with occasional pieces which are more contemporary. The choir seeks to achieve a very high standard musically in the chosen works and performances are always in conjunction with professional soloists and orchestras of a very high standard. In addition, the Society has a section for younger singers, Bishopwearmouth Young Singers, who rehearse separately and prepare for their own concerts as well as sometimes taking part in the main Society events.‘

‘A ladies' community choir of 40 voices, based in Washington, Tyne & Wear ... The choir aims to bring women into a relaxed atmosphere where they can develop a love of singing together, build lasting friendships and present their singing to a listening public through concerts, private bookings and in support of the Women's Institute ... The choir is still connected to the Women's Institute though it is no longer a pre-requisite that choir members are WI members ... The name "Inspire" was brought into being in 2014 and is adapted from the WI logo - "Inspiring Women".’

+ Inspire Ladies’ Choir
