Cadenza is open to anyone over eleven, including school pupils, undergraduates, postgraduates and amateur adults, and delivers solo and chamber lessons, usually half and half, but the balance can be varied by request. Older students in pre-formed ensembles often wish to focus on advanced chamber coaching and to enjoy the late night mixed staff/student chamber scene. ‘The structure of Holiday Orchestra at present is this: we have a committee of volunteers, under the rules of the Charity Commission, who organise dates, venues, bookings and a thousand details. We employ an overall Music Director who is the main source of ideas, direction, standards, contacts etc. for the organisation ... We have addressed this conundrum by introducing a junior musicianship class which takes place during the time when the junior string orchestra rehearses ...
