Formed 1922: ‘Affectionately known to members and friends as SODS ... a friendly group with a reputation for presenting high quality and award winning plays, musicals and pantomimes. We are always keen to welcome enthusiastic and talented new members aged 16 and over. We take pride in hosting a variety of original music, from established acts to emerging talent. We also host poetry, film, theatre, and comedy ... John Peel was an English disc jockey, radio presenter and journalist. He was the longest-serving of the original BBC Radio 1 DJ’s broadcasting regularly from 1967 until his death in 2004. He was known for his eclectic taste in music and his honest and warm broadcasting style.‘
