‘Although the idea of re-starting a Traditional Club has been brewing for many years, we have always stumbled over the perennial problem – a suitable venue. With so many of the bigger pubs with function rooms closing it looked very much like the idea was nothing more than a pipe dream till the newly refurbished Bird in Hand opened, and what’s more, the landlord and landlady ... were very keen on our ideas. We aim to bring to Stafford some of the very best traditional Folk performers, not just people who are the household names of the folk world, but also up and coming spectacular new talent.’

‘Formed in 2007, Chetwynd is a choir that takes its name from the family long-associated with its “home” since the outset, the church of St Mary the Virgin at Ingestre near Stafford ... The choir is well-suited to the intimate atmosphere of the church, in terms of both scale and repertoire. Properly described as a chamber choir, it is well-served in terms of soloists, accompanists and strength-in-depth across the range of parts. The choir performs two or three times a year, spending six to eight weeks in preparation for its concerts.’

‘We are a traditional choir from Stafford and surrounding villages. We enjoy singing and love coming together to make music. No audition is required to join us but most of our members can read music or have a basic grounding in music theory. Currently the choir has about 90 members. We rehearse weekly ... and perform three or four concerts a year. Our repertoire includes traditional choral works and more modern compositions.’

‘Stafford's oldest orchestra providing the town with music for over 50 years.’ Originally the English Electric Orchestra, founded as part of that company’s Sports & Social Organization. Now typically offers two to three concerts per annum - at Christmas, and in the Spring or Early Summer.

'Well-established orchestra performing around 3 concerts each year in and around the town of Stafford and often branches to other venues around the county of Staffordshire itself. Made up of a mix of professional musicians and very enthusiastic amateurs, the orchestra plays music from all eras, including modern works and first performances. We often provide a platform for local composers and soloists, with a particular emphasis on encouraging young musicians and audiences.'
