'Annual course gives brass enthusiasts throughout the globe an opportunity to study, learn and socialise with a world class music staff and like-minded musicians ... Having spent seven successful years (2010-2016) in the Suffolk town of Framingham, the BBSS has been in search of a new home with its 2017 and 2018 courses taking place in Taunton and Culford respectively. However, the search is now over! The BBSS Board of Directors are delighted to announce that this year's course [2019], and many more for the foreseeable future, will take place in the brass band heartlands of Yorkshire, England.’ Held Mid August.

 

‘Has grown to become one of Yorkshire’s premiere art and music festivals. Played out in the heart of the beautiful Dales’ village of Grassington over the last two weeks of June, the festival offers an eclectic daily programme of music, comedy and cultural events ...   Grassington Festival is also proud of its Festival in the Community, which is a range of collaborative projects that provide exciting opportunities for local schools, care homes and community groups to get involved in the festival, and create anything from art installations to music concerts.’

‘Formed in 1947 and is recognised as one of the most successful music societies in the country. Its main aim is to bring professional national and international musicians to perform in this historic market town at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales ... Six annual concerts, October - March ... There are many eating places in Skipton, hotel accommodation is plentiful and there is a late train to Leeds at 10.15pm.’

‘At Skipton Music Centre, we believe that music is for everybody and welcome children and adults of all standards (including beginners) to join either one or two of our twelve different ensembles on Saturday mornings ... We welcome new members throughout the year and encourage potential new members to come along on a Saturday morning and join in.’

Established 1922: ‘We are delighted to welcome to the festival new and long established friends, competitors, audience, parents and supporters. An interesting and varied programme of speech and drama and music is promised. The festival is held annually in March and lasts for a week. The climax of the festival is always the Saturday evening concert where there is the opportunity to hear again some of the outstanding performances of the week. The evening concert is a relaxed and enjoyable celebration without the stress of competition’.

‘We are a friendly mixed-voice community choir which currently has some 60 members. We give three concerts a seasons ... We are always pleased to welcome new members - we do not hold auditions and previous singing experience, although helpful, is not essential.’

Forthcoming Concerts and Recitals

Created 2004: ‘In 2015 Skipton Camerata will take up residency in the newly refurbished Town Hall. Working closely with Skipton Town Partnership the orchestra will give concerts linked to several of Skipton’s festivals. Other concerts are planned in Ilkley, Harrogate, Bradford, Sheffield and Bakewell. Thanks to the continued support from Skipton Building Society and its other benefactors the Camerata is able to pursue its aim of making classical music at a professional level accessible to the more remote areas of Northern England’.

Founded 1989: ‘We are a very friendly and enthusiastic group who share a love of singing. We enjoy experiencing a broad range of musical styles from many different eras ... Each year we present Summer and Winter Concerts and take part in the Skipton Music Festival.’
