'The Festival provides a platform for amateur performances with an educational element provided by professional adjudicators. Our Vision is to encourage and provide a conduit through public performances for young children to express themselves through music, speech and drama and to showcase and nurture this talent in the performing arts. We still believe in the ideal that the youth of today are talented in the arts and will always have something to offer. This talent is in all of us, and if, as a Society, we can nurture even a small amount of that talent, then we are making a difference. It is this difference that keeps us working so hard to make the Festival what it is.' Held Early May.

A collection of half a dozen community choirs and a community orchestra, offering concerts throughout north Cheshire at Summer and Christmas: ‘The emphasis in our Choirs is very much on fun and enjoyment. There is no audition process and choir members do not need to have any previous experience – those who have no musical knowledge at all are taught the basics as they go along. For many, it is the first time they have sung like this since school days ... Poynton Community Orchestra gives adult musicians from Grades I to V standard the opportunity to play alongside like-minded players in a fun and non-threatening environment’.

Alderley Edge Symphony Orchestra is the new name [2018] of the former Alderley Edge Orchestra, originally set up in in 1922. Following the appointment of Richard Howarth as President and Chief Conductor and the engagement of professional conductors in recent years, our new name reflects the broader and more ambitious repertoire that has become the hallmark of our concerts. The orchestra gives four concerts each year ... We also hold a full-day Workshop each year to explore and perform larger scale compositions.’

‘Many of the arrangements we sing are in the barbershop style, where the melody is surrounded by harmonies above and below, creating wonderful natural overtones. Women with any voice range, from low to high, are able to find a suitable harmony part. Our repertoire is more modern than classical and varies from contemporary, pop, swing, jazz, ballads and songs from films and shows. Some of our songs are performed with choreography to enhance the overall musical presentation ...’

'Formed in May 2005 with the intention of providing excellence in music making for players and audiences alike. The orchestra comes together for a brief but intensive period of preparation before each concert and players join by invitation or audition on a concert by concert basis. This flexibility enables the orchestra to attract the best available players for each concert. Over the course of twelve years, Cheshire Sinfonia has attracted widespread acclaim for its quality of ensemble, blend and the sheer freshness and exuberance of its performances. In addition to its own season of concerts, Cheshire Sinfonia collaborates in performances with its sister organisation, the chamber choir CHORALE, and has accompanied a number of the region’s choral societies.'

'Enthusiastic mixed voice choir of around 40 singers. The choir was founded in 1964 by a group of friends in Wilmslow, who met to sing in a flat near Lindow Common. Since then the choir has grown but the aim of singing for fun and friendship remains core. The choir gives four main concerts a year, in the Wilmslow, Handforth and Alderley Edge areas, and also at the RNCM. We sing a range of music, both sacred and secular. From time to time we join forces with other Choral Societies to perform larger works.'

Formed 1982: ‘In the early years the Band was made up of just a few young players but since then has blossomed to become a large and successful organisation, now consisting of a learners group, a training band, the Poynton Junior Brass Band with over 30 members and the Poynton Youth Brass Band with over 40 members. The band is now so successful that from time to time we have had to operate a waiting list. The organisation prides itself in taking young people of any ability. The band is run solely by parents of current and past players’.
