‘Based in Stockton Heath in Warrington ... We began life as a small madrigal group of eight voices, formed to provide quality music for the 800th anniversary celebrations of St Wilfrid’s, Grappenhall. Since those beginnings, when the eight founding members were active in the church’s life, we have gradually expanded to eighteen voices and no longer have any formal link to Grappenhall church. Our raison d’etre therefore changed: accordingly we have broadened our repertoire to include traditional English songs, a capella and songs from the shows whilst retaining our love of performing sacred music from the medieval period right up to the present.’

'LCB was formed in the 1980’s from what remained of a struggling Warrington Concert Band. It was decided to relocate rehearsals to Lymm in 1992 with the possibility of attracting players from the Altrincham, Bowdon, Hale and Timperley areas. Within twelve months new members were joining from these areas. Some of the older members of the WCB left to join bands or orchestras in Warrington ... The Band enjoys an excellent reputation and regularly excites and enthralls audiences around the North West.' ALERT Website not accessible at Review.

Over the last few years the NCWO has developed to the point where it is now regarded as one of the finest ensembles of its type in the UK.’

‘A very social, non contesting brass band that perform thoughout the year. This includes summer marches, Christmas playing and more formal concerts ... The band is once again involved with teaching brass instruments to young people, although there are no age limits, and we offer free tuition to anyone wishing to learn a brass instrument. The band has many young members between the ages of 11 and 16. They are developing musical skills and socialising with people of their own age in a safe environment in the same way that we learned to become musicians all those years ago.‘
