‘Based in Stockton Heath in Warrington ... We began life as a small madrigal group of eight voices, formed to provide quality music for the 800th anniversary celebrations of St Wilfrid’s, Grappenhall. Since those beginnings, when the eight founding members were active in the church’s life, we have gradually expanded to eighteen voices and no longer have any formal link to Grappenhall church. Our raison d’etre therefore changed: accordingly we have broadened our repertoire to include traditional English songs, a capella and songs from the shows whilst retaining our love of performing sacred music from the medieval period right up to the present.’

‘Formed in 1990. We are a thriving well balanced mixed-voice choir, based in Lymm, Cheshire, attracting enthusiastic amateur singers from Lymm and the surrounding area. Our aim, as a social, community organisation, is to be a mixed-voice performance choir, performing a wide range of music at local community events and concerts ... We welcome singers of all ages and abilities. There are no auditions, and there is no requirement to be able to read music.’

'LCB was formed in the 1980’s from what remained of a struggling Warrington Concert Band. It was decided to relocate rehearsals to Lymm in 1992 with the possibility of attracting players from the Altrincham, Bowdon, Hale and Timperley areas. Within twelve months new members were joining from these areas. Some of the older members of the WCB left to join bands or orchestras in Warrington ... The Band enjoys an excellent reputation and regularly excites and enthralls audiences around the North West.'

‘A community ensemble consisting of brass, woodwind and percussion instruments ... The band always welcomes players of all ages and all abilities on any instrument that features within a concert band. We do not require new players to complete an audition, and there are no minimum grade requirements. Just turn-up and see if you like the band ... The band has a core of quality players that enables us to deliver a very good performance. On practice nights we offer the opportunity of “ensemble” playing to musicians of all ages and abilities.’
