'Surrey's top music society ... Prestigious Society devoted to promoting the very best of musical performance from recent graduates to the celebrated stars of the international Scene.'
'We are a friendly choir of around 60 members. We put on performances three times a year, which have included Rossinis's Petite Messe Solennelle, Fauré Requiem, Vaughan Williams' Five Mystical Songs and Handel's Messiah. Our performances are enhanced by professional soloists and orchestra.'
'A friendly community choir which meets weekly in Cobham, Surrey, singing mainly four part harmony. We have around fifty members of all ages and backgrounds, with one thing in common - we love to sing ... There are no auditions for the choir, and you don't need to be able to read music. We provide audio files, word sheets and scores. We sing an eclectic range of material from Snow Patrol to Mozart, Carly Simon to African lullabies ... We perform a number of concerts during the year, including at the end of term in summer and at Christmas.'
'EYT was set up to bridge the gap between school and adult drama, specifically aimed at young people between the ages of 15 and 25 ... Two major productions are usually presented each year ... normally a musical in the winter and either a musical or straight play in the summer. This gives everyone a chance to be involved, and to use whatever performance skills they have - whether it's acting, singing or dancing or all three!'
‘A friendly mixed-voice choir based in Thames Ditton, Surrey which aims to have fun as well as trying to achieve a high standard of singing. The choir does not hold auditions and currently has around 75 members. We give two concerts a year, often with a professional orchestra and soloists.’
'Enigma is an innovative orchestra based in Elmbridge, Surrey drawing professional, semi-professional, London conservatoire musicians and the best amateur players together to put on occasional high-quality concerts. The group’s common goal is to show their appreciation and love for orchestral music through their performances. A professional approach to personal preparation and rehearsals ensures they continue to explore the musical enigma of how a diverse group of individual players sound together as the one supreme instrument that is the orchestra.'
'Set up in Autumn 2011 as a successor to the Orchestra of the Pagoda which ran from 1999 to 2009. The Orchestra meets on the first 5 Sunday afternoons at the beginning of each term, to avoid conflict with school activities. A public performance is presented on the last Sunday of each course, giving the players a feeling of real achievement as well as an opportunity to demonstrate their skills to their parents and other members of the audience. Players may volunteer a solo performance of a piece they have mastered to gain experience. EDYO welcomes players of grade 4 or above, aged between 8 and 16. No audition is required.'
‘A friendly and enthusiastic amateur SATB choir which rehearses every week in Oxshott village in Surrey. We currently have around 70 singers, from Oxshott, Cobham, Esher, Claygate and further afield. No auditions are held, and although the ability to read music would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. Being able to count from 1 to 4 without moving your lips or using your fingers would also be useful ... We sing a broad range of music - the great classical works of course, but also songs, madrigals, spirituals and, in season, Christmas music.’ The Choir participates in the Leith Hill Musical Festival.
‘In the Baroque period, the ripieno was the orchestral ensemble in a concerto grosso, in textural opposition to the concertino. In choral music, those singers who were soloists (concertisten) were distinguished from those who supported them (ripienisten) ... Ripieno is a small chamber choir of around thirty singers ... based in Esher. We perform a range of sacred and secular music, specialising in the music of Renaissance and Baroque periods. Much of the repertoire is unaccompanied, but when additional forces are called for the choir is able to attract first-class professional soloists and specialist instrumental ensembles.’
'A four part harmony, ladies, community choir. We perform a range of different styles of music including classical pieces, musical theatre, gospel, folk and contemporary music.'
‘Walton Voices mutated out of Walton and Oatlands Choral Society (still its official name), which was founded in 1934 ... We welcome new members throughout the year. We perform three major concerts per year ... and are regularly asked to perform at smaller functions and run workshops in the community.’
'Formed in 1921 by a small group of enthusiastic singers and since then has grown to its present strength of over sixty members, enjoying a national and international reputation for performance quality and entertainment value. Although the choir is based in Weybridge in Surrey our membership is drawn from all over Surrey and from all walks of life ... We offer exciting and varied programmes of popular opera choruses, spirituals, hymns and devotional pieces, traditional songs and ballads and choral arrangements of songs from musical shows and the current popular music scene, all performed in the spine-tingling four-part harmony which is unique to traditional male voice choral singing.'
'A community venue overlooking the river in Walton. It started out in 1998 as a restored 18thC barn and has now grown to include gallery, craft studio, courtyard, garden, and Cafe/Bar. Riverhouse is used for theatre, childrens shows, comedy, chamber music and all kinds of jazz. We also offer a wide range of courses, from streetdance for older kids, or music, mime and movement for the younger guests, to our writers group, book club, art classes for all ages, jewellery making, enamelling, photography and crochet.'
