'The aim of the Society is to present on excellent sound equipment a broad range of classical music on compact disc, selected from the whole of the recording era, circa 1900 to the present day. Programmes include a wide variety of orchestral, chamber, instrumental and vocal music, chosen and presented by members and by visiting specialists, giving background about the music or performers ... Visitors are very welcome at any of our meetings. Whether you come with a friend or alone, you will find the atmosphere friendly and welcoming.'

Founded 1956: ‘Friendship was one of the core reasons the Festival came into being; that, plus a belief on the part of the founders that sacred music is at the very heart of the liturgy (a form and arrangement of public worship laid down by a church or religion) – and the need to fundraise for a new Church roof ... The festival has flourished, and today it lasts for eight days at the end of August, from Compline by candlelight on the Sunday evening, to Eucharist on the following Sunday morning of the Bank Holiday weekend’.

'Every year since 2010 we have had some wonderful sessions in what is becoming a continuing tradition of singing local "village" Christmas carols in pubs in Bradford on Avon. So as our new "tradition" becomes more firmly established this website will tell you all about what happens, where and why. You can hear some of the carols and see video. You can read learned discourse upon the history of the carol or just let the music wash over you. Come on in, the water’s lovely!'

‘Founded in 1986 as a community choir for the local area. Since then we have rehearsed and performed a huge range of choral works — masses, anthems, oratorios, opera and secular pieces. We are enthusiastic amateurs who enjoy being part of the great British tradition of choral singing. Our concerts are generally performed with professional soloists and keyboard players or orchestra. No audition is required but a high level of commitment is expected. In this way the musicianship of individuals increases and we can tackle more and more challenging works. We perform two major concerts each year in the Bradford on Avon area, one in December and one in May/June. We also sing at charity or community events at least twice a year and, from time to time, hold all-day singing workshops which are open to everyone.’

'This Site is dedicated to two English music sessions that run on alternate weeks in Bath and Bradford on Avon. On this site we want to tell you about the sessions and what to expect at them. We also want to tell you about the music we play and provide resources for people who want to know more ... It’s amazing how little the English know about their own music and dance. We have a rich tradition of music and song that’s the equal of anywhere else in Europe, but you wouldn’t know that from listening to the English media! Catch the Irish or the Scots doing that!'

'We're a massively exciting orchestra bringing you iconic music that makes the hairs on your neck stand on end! ...  Now with the annual Fulltone Music Festival well established, their events in Wiltshire and beyond are something quite spectacular!'

'If Opera is all about improving the way opera works, so that more people can enjoy its wonder. We also want to normalise an art form that persists in the national psyche as something rare and impenetrable. That means changing the way we do things, from the roots up.'
