With its theatre style auditorium which seats 80 patrons, it houses one of the very first Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organs to be installed in this country, the 2 manual 6 rank pipe organ originally installed in the Trocadero Theatre, Liverpool, and later in the Gaumont Cinema, Dingle, Liverpool ... Weekly programmes featuring the Wurlitzer are presented every Wednesday at 1-00pm’.

‘The Band regularly performs on the concert stage with biannual concerts at the Eccles Town Hall a particular highlight as well as a busy festive season in the Salford area and further afield. The band rehearse in its own band room in the heart of Eccles and has done so as far back as 1920 with current members having travelled from as far afield as Singapore, Ireland, France, the USA, Scotland, Australia, Wales, and even Yorkshire to play with Eccles’ finest!’

‘Founded in 1947 at the instigation of Salford City Council officials to promote the revitalisation of culture following WW2, SCS now undertakes a range of repetoire from Baroque to 21st century, performing five concerts a year at venues in Salford & Manchester including the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), University of Salford's Peel Hall, Salford Cathedral and the Bridgewater Hall.’

‘We are a mixed choir of around 30 members who sing anything from Handel to Lloyd Webber We can be booked for any occasion ... We recently decided to change our name to “Salford Royal Choir” to reflect the new Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust image. Legally this is not possible (we can’t use the word ‘Royal’), so, legally, we will still be known as “Salford Hospital Choir”, but locally, for concert purposes, “Salford Royal Choir”.’
