‘Providing opportunities for children of all ages across Redbridge to be involved in music making ... Performance is an essential part of learning an instrument. There are many performing opportunities for all levels of ability. Early performances may begin in instrumental lessons, class or school assemblies. Each year instrumental festivals are organised to include a wide range of age and ability in concerts. Pupils are encouraged to take part in school ensembles and school concerts. If a pupil shows sufficient progress and promise there may be opportunities to join a club or other group at Redbridge Music School where many performing opportunities exist for a variety of abilities.’

‘A friendly four-part chamber choir based in Woodford, East London ... New members (over 16) are always welcome: there are no formal auditions – selection is by mutual agreement after a few rehearsals ... We reach a good standard of chamber singing with the majority of members being able to read music and sight-read. We suggest some experience of choral singing would help.‘
‘Formed in 1990 when a group of friends realised there was a gap in the local East London singing community. They were looking for a chance to sing music outside the mainstream a cappella repertoire and within a small and fast-learning group. Over two decades on the choir has around 35 singers who thrive on the wide ranging repertoire and the stimulating rehearsals ...’

‘A self-financing amateur group that rehearses and gives several concerts each year in the London Borough of Redbridge and its environs. The orchestra was established in 1996 and currently numbers around 60 players of all ages and from all walks of life, who come together each week to make music in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Our aim is to deliver concerts of a high musical standard but to have fun and enjoy our music-making along the way. The orchestra's repertoire is varied, with something to suit most musical tastes, including arrangements of well-known classical, popular pieces and music from stage and screen, as well as works composed especially for the wind band medium.‘
Successful competititve Band, originating in the early 1970s from players within Redbridge Music School: ‘It has won the title "Champion Band of the London and Southern Counties" region many times and represented the area in the national finals held at the Royal Albert Hall’.
‘A friendly group of around 60 singers with a range of backgrounds and a shared love of choral music. The choir has gained a reputation, both locally and further afield, for high quality performances with a friendly atmosphere ... We give at least four main concerts a year as well as singing at various events, often by invitation, mainly in the local community ... The choir performs with professional soloists and instrumentalists, including a full orchestra at times. Suitably experienced choir members may also be offered solo opportunities.‘
‘Formed in 1963 and has presented public concerts on a regular basis ever since ... The Orchestra often engages professional soloists for concerti and similar works, but advanced members are also given the opportunity to perform in such a capacity. Apart from presenting three major concerts each year, ensembles and various groups from Woodford Symphony Orchestra often perform at other events. The string section in particular gives extra concerts during each season.’
