‘A group of amateur musicians who form a traditional brass band. We are drawn from all walks of life and join together to make music for the benefit of the local community and our own enjoyment. The Hawk Green Band was originally formed in 1982 as a junior feeder band to The Marple Band and was known first as Marple Brass and then as Marple 'B' Band. In 1986 it started to compete in contests ... In 1997 the band took its current name of Hawk Green.’

Norbury Handbell Ringers were the first team registered with the HRGB [Handbell Ringers of Great Britain] which gives them a special place in the organisation’s history. Having started in the Church School at Norbury and then having moved base from Norbury to Poynton and now to a Methodist Church near Marple, their 140 plus bells and cupboard are well travelled ... We perform concerts in the Stockport and South Manchester Area.
The team play carols, hymns, marches, classical music, folk tunes and popular tunes from films and shows.’

‘With a manageable blend of regular concerts and contests, we are Interested in genuine bandsmen and bands-women who are dedicated to music and with a true passion for playing. We recognise people are busy and have many commitments so rehearsals are normally once a week on a Friday nights, with additional rehearsal when required. Rehearsals are industrious (but lots of fun) at our own, purpose-built band room in Marple. We can provide an instrument or you can use you own. And you would be part of a friendly, affable team with plenty of post-finale socialising opportunities!’
