‘This Society was formed in 1979 and the membership steadily increased from 15 people until 1994 when the number reached 200, and it soon became necessary to form a membership waiting list. Since then the concert evenings are either full or nearly full - the hall holds 200 ... Concerts are held monthly and are usually - but not always - on the fourth Tuesday in the month ... The Society welcomes visitors from other Clubs and we are always pleased to hear from anyone who is on holiday in our area.‘

'Founded in 2013 with the aim of attracting the highest possible calibre of classical music performances to the beautiful sailing town of Lymington Inspired by the romantic tradition, we endeavour to programme different ensembles within one programme. In Schumann’s time, for example, it was common to programme individual movements of symphonies along with piano solos, string quartets, singers – even poetry readings ...' Held Mid September.

'A lively amateur mixed choir of over 80 voices, which meets regularly each week on a Tuesday evening, to rehearse for two annual concerts in May and December. Professional soloists and orchestra join with the choir for performances.'

'This exciting choir is always looking for new members from the New Forest area. There is no audition – some sight-reading is helpful and there must be a commitment to regular attendance at rehearsals ... The aim continues to be to explore both regular and lesser-known repertoire, to collaborate with and employ local musicians wherever possible together with talented young soloists from London and to perform to a high standard.'

Wind Band 'The band has a wide ranging repertoire of music including popular melodies and jazz as well as marches, hymns and classical works. Hear us in Lymington and the surrounding area, at various venues ...'

‘Has been in existence since 2002 ... We are amateur musicians from a wide variety of backgrounds and span a variety of ages! We aim for a high standard; there is no entrance audition but we would suggest Grade 5 standard as a minimum ... New or prospective players can be sure of a friendly welcome. We see it as part of our function to be able to offer orchestral experience to improving players and to rusty players who might want to come back to orchestral playing after a gap of some years. We find that resuming regular playing in an orchestral setting always leads to both improvement and enjoyment ... We hold 3-4 concerts a year, in various venues in the New Forest. We usually perform in both the Lymington Arts Festival and Milford on Sea Arts Festival.’

Founded 2017: ‘Consisting of professional musicians, the Nova Foresta Classical Players specialise in music from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic Eras ... “Nova” have been fast gaining recognition as a musical force to be reckoned with and are frequently performing to sell out crowds. “Nova” not only wish to bring great music to everyone, but to also provide a platform for the young musicians of the future ... The Nova Foresta Classical Players holds important links and connections with other musical organisations within the New Forest District. At the heart of all the work that Nova does, is its link with music for young people and elderly people with dementia. Many of our musicians frequently provide music in Hospitals and Care Homes. This is of paramount importance’.
