'Gaelic choral singing has a long and deeply-embedded tradition on Islay. Until relatively recently most of the Islay villages or areas of the island would each have had their own choir. Còisir Ghàidhlig Ìle (Islay Gaelic Choir) was formed in 2005 as the successor to the Port Ellen Gaelic Choir which was the last remaining village choir on the island. Còisir Ghàidhlig Ìle is now Islay’s sole Gaelic choir representing the entire island. Members are drawn from all parts of the island and we welcome all comers – regardless of their music or Gaelic abilities.'
