Founded 1837: ‘We perform concerts in Hereford Cathedral three times a year, and rehearse in the autumn and spring. The Society has about 160 members, who come from all over Herefordshire and beyond. We love to have new members ... There is a simple voice test for potential members, and once you've passed, you're in and will be performing in a programme of concerts that is always varied and exciting’.

‘It all started in 1957 when the old Herefordshire Constabulary celebrated its centenary and a dozen officers made up a choir to sing at an anniversary event in Hereford Cathedral. They enjoyed it so much they kept on singing and eventually opened their ranks to men from all walks of life. Today the choir is 65 strong and welcomes new members to ensure the great tradition of male voice choral singing continues.’

'Founded in September 1958 as an advanced strings evening class. It quickly became established as an independent orchestra, and today it is the only regular adult orchestra in Herefordshire ... Although initially founded as a string group, it quickly developed a pattern of concerts including wind, brass and percussion players and sometimes choral groups.'

'This beautiful building is the home of a community which has worshipped and worked together here continuously for well over 1,300 years. It is a place where the mission of the Church to proclaim Christ's love is central, and therefore the community has always welcomed visitors. We all hope that you enjoy your visit ... Hereford Cathedral is home to three organs: the world-famous "Father" Willis organ, the movable festival organ, and a single-manual chamber organ.'
