‘We sing three concerts a year, one at Christmas, one around Easter time and a summer concert. The flavour of our concerts is quite different. As you’d expect the Christmas concert is full of festive cheer - Christmas carols, songs and suitable light choral works. The Easter concert is usually a longer classical choral work, where we are accompanied by an orchestra. You’d think this would be the hardest of our concerts each year, but generally, once you get into the feel of the piece the music comes fairly easily. The summer concert is where we sing lighter, modern, popular pieces.’

‘Philomusica has a set of core values which we hold dear: * To be supportive and inclusive; To provide good quality music; To develop and use our own soloists; To have a professional approach; To be financially sound ... By staying true to these principles we have achieved a great deal since our formation in 1966 ... Right from the very start, we considered that the provision of a wide variety of music and the giving of concerts in a multitude of venues, large and small, were vital aspects. Over time, through doing this, we've gained many friends and partners who help us achieve these objectives.‘ The Choir rehearses both in Gloucester and in Worcester.

‘A small mixed voice choir based at Blaisdon in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, drawing members from all over the Forest and Gloucester areas ... They took their name from the house in Blaisdon where the first rehearsals were held in 1983. Over the years the choir has grown in stature and reputation, and has performed widely in Gloucestershire, elsewhere in England and in Europe. The choir puts on at least two major concerts each year and supports local and international charities ... We are always interested in recruiting new singers. We don’t audition, but you are welcome to join us at one of our regular rehearsals and find out if we suit each other. We don’t expect you to be able to sight-sing, but some music reading ability is an advantage.‘

'Music is integral to our daily worship and Evensong is sung by either the Cathedral Choir or the Youth Choir every day except Monday during term time, and occasionally by visiting choirs during the school holidays ... The Cathedral also hosts an exciting range of concerts and there is an annual organ recital series. Every year the Cathedral Choir takes part in the world famous Three Choirs Festival which comes to Gloucester every three years, being held in the cathedrals of Worcester and Hereford in the other years.'
