‘Fadlos and Fadlos Kidz are the award winning amateur Theatre groups based in Fakenham ... We have traditionally produced one musical and one pantomime each year. And we have won seven NODA awards ... so clearly we do something right! We welcome new members for any show, on stage, front of house, backstage or making tea. Please come along when we start our next show and make some friends. Fadlos has always been about fun, meeting new people and working together to create something everyone can be proud of.'
Founded 1973: ‘We welcome anyone of any age who loves to sing. Our aim is to bring the pleasure of live, large-scale choral music-making to a wide public. And, of course, to have a wonderful time while we're doing that. The choir has about 100 members from the town and surrounding villages ... We give a minimum of three concerts a year ... The choir's repertoire embraces both sacred and secular music, and we have performed with a succession of distinguished soloists and orchestras’.
'Formed in 1881 by 6 men in a pub, Fakenham Town Band has survived many ups and downs including 2 world wars. Nevertheless, sheer determination and commitment by members over the years have ensured that the band not only survives, but reaches high levels of musical performance for the enjoyment of audiences and players alike. Fakenham Town Band is very popular, often giving up to 40 performances per year ranging from garden fetes through to concerts. Most events are in North Norfolk and the surrounding area.'
Formed 1989: 'We have continued our interesting and challenging programmes until the present time. Our works have incorporated composers such as Britten, Purcell, Mozart, Handel, Offenbach, Donizetti, Lehar and Puccini' - and, indeed, Monteverdi.
'Enjoy chamber music and opera at its finest in the perfect setting of the Marble Hall at Holkham ...'
'The recitals are held in what used to be the great hall of a late Jacobean house designed and built by Sir Roger Townshend with his Master Mason William Edge. Later paved in marble by William Kent and embellished in the C18th style, this room epitomises the dual spirit of Raynham Hall. Lofty, elegant and flooded with light it also has a clear but gentle resonance which is perfect for the intimate chamber music presented at the Raynham Recitals.'
‘Wells Maltings is a striking brick and flint building within the heart of Wells-next-the-Sea which was built in the mid-19th century. In the late 16th century, Wells was the major port for the area and by the first half of the 18th century the town become a major exporter of malt. In 1890 the town had nine large malthouses, employing over 50 people. The town is now a seaside resort with a small working port, and the building is one of the last remaining malthouses in Wells ... The new Wells Maltings building has been augmented hugely by a brand new extension, with the internal spaces refitted and developed to create a modern day cultural and heritage hub.’
‘Our aim at the Yorke Trust is provide opportunities for students and children from all walks of life to study and to perform in the un-pressurised atmosphere of the North Norfolk countryside, away from the competitive environment of university and school. We have been doing this to the highest possible standards since the foundation of the Trust in 1984, and we have been doing it virtually free of charge.’
