‘A group of guitarists who meet every month in Chester to enjoy playing and listening to the guitar. We are always looking for opportunities to share with other guitar enthusiasts. Guitarists of all grades are welcome ... We play a wide variety of music. Guitarists will play solo, in ensembles, or sometimes use other instruments and voice to complement the music. And the music is not restricted to the classical guitar. We have had a mandolin player, a steel string guitarist, a 10-string guitarist etc. Chester players are also taking part in the Chester Guitar Orchestra ... and come together once a month.’

‘CYSO's first official rehearsal took place in September 2014 and is aimed at young players of orchestral instruments based in Chester. The Orchestra gives Chester's young players the chance to play in a full symphony orchestra. The atmosphere in rehearsals is fun and friendly whilst working hard to achieve a high level of professionalism developing musical skills and experience. Entry is through a short, informal audition and applications are welcome at any time.‘

Our motto is “We Sing to Serve” and over the years we have raised many thousands of pounds for charitable and other good causes ... Anyone who thinks they might be interested is invited to come along to one of our rehearsals ... You do NOT have to read music; it helps of course if you do, but most of us don’t / didn’t and you’ll quickly learn the basics that help understanding. ‘We are known as the "Friendly Band" and work hard to keep it that way. With a history dating back more than 100 years, we have been providing the opportunity for hundreds of local people to learn to play and enjoy music. We perform regularly at local fetes and concerts. ‘An amateur orchestra based near Chester, was founded in 2001 to enable musicians of all ages and abilities to participate in a performing amateur orchestra. The atmosphere is friendly, informal and geared towards encouraging the best performances from its members and aiding their musical development. An annual concert is held in July and a Christmas concert in December. The orchestra occasionally performs away from its base in Great Barrow Chester and are free to give concerts for charity. We are a not for profit Community Based Orchestra.’
