The school, based in Hartlepool has over 30 qualified teachers, providing music lessons to in excess of 500 weekly students. Shine! is a mixture of the traditional and contemporary with both competitive and non-competitive classes. This Festival is not so much a new idea, but a fresh look on a tradition that continues to thrive in other areas across the country and even internationally ... The Tees Valley has seen a strong tradition of competitive music festivals over the past 60 years, notably Stockton Music and Drama festival and Middlesbrough Music Festival, both of which have disbanded in the past 5 years. ‘Staithes has a long and celebrated history of art from the 19th century Staithes Group of Artists to the present day ... Visitors will be able to walk the maze of lanes visiting “galleries” as well as taking part in a programme of guided walks, workshops, talks and film shows. Formed 1967: ‘The Society usually performs three concerts a year. High quality soloists and / or instrumentalist are engaged for the performances - using local talent, wherever possible ... The Society is always open to receiving new members. There are no initial auditions, but the ability of new members to blend with the choir will be reviewed by the conductor after a few weeks ... We extend our thanks to all those wonderful conductors and accompanists who have served us so well ... to the members who have shared the responsibilities for running the Society and putting on concerts, and to the patrons and audiences who have supported the work in many ways’.

'Hartlepool Male Voice Choir had its beginnings in the late 1950s with a group of lads having a sing song after Rugby matches for Hartlepool Old Boys RFC ... You don’t have to be a musical genius to join us. Believe it or not, many choir members have no formal music training and most do not read music. The only requirements are for you to be able to sing in tune and show a commitment to the choir concerts and rehearsals. Founded 1952: ‘The original intentions were to confine ourselves to Gilbert & Sullivan, but after many years it was decided to broaden our canvas ... In 2007 we changed our title to Teesside Musical Theatre Company to hopefully attract younger members.
