’We have our concerts on Tuesdays fortnightly @ 7-30 pm, preceded by a tea dance (2pm-4pm) ... In the early days we were a very bouytant club and had a membership of over a hundred but ... we have found, as many other clubs have, a dramatic decline in concert attendances. Early on in 2008 we were on the verge of calling it a day but, through our hard working committee running fund raising events to cover concert losses, we were able to muddle through. 'No audition is required, but a pleasant singing voice, a good ear, enthusiasm and willingness to learn are helpful attributes if the obvious asset of reading music is lacking. Prospective members are able to join us for a few rehearsals prior to making a commitment to the Society if they so wish. Members of the choir are expected to fulfil an attendance at rehearsal requirement in order to take part in a concert. This is set at 75% and can only be varied in exceptional circumstances after consultation with the Musical Director. Our concerts are enhanced by the inclusion of excellent soloists, accompanists, instrumentalists etc. who are professional or semi-professional musicians. They always seem to enjoy their experiences with us and are keen to return.'

Rotherham Civic Theatre opened to the public on 7th March 1960. The building as it stands today had a vibrant history long before the curtain was raised on that first night ... The building is a converted church and was purchased by the Council prior to being converted into a theatre ... Many things have changed since that opening night, such as computerised box office systems, online booking, radio microphones and intelligent lights. But what has remained ... is the vitally important part amateur groups play in the theatre’s success. It is a testament to their popularity and strength in the town that many of the societies still perform regularly today at the Civic Theatre.’
