Formed 2014: ‘Our aim is to provide a monthly event where ukulele enthusiasts can meet, play, sing, chat and generally have a good time. We do not have any ideas of grandeur - whatever your playing ability you are welcome to join us - and with 50 or more players, the occasional (?) duff chord is in good company! ... We do have “open mic” spots when some players perform solos or perhaps duets. Where possible we try to support local charities by attending fund raising events etc. But above all, PUPS is about ukulele players having fun’.

‘An auditioned amateur orchestra consisting of some of Dorset's most talented musicians ... Our vision is for an orchestra for Dorset that is committed to music-making of the highest quality. We exist primarily for the musician, devising programmes and rehearsal experiences that focus on the pleasure of playing orchestral music ... Three concerts a year with a burst of rehearsals (4-5) beforehand. We think this suits busy musicians best. It also makes it easier for us to book renown conductors and soloists ... As we expand into a full-size symphony orchestra we're on the lookout for new players. We have a minimum Grade 8 standard.’

‘Rehearses weekly in the St Aldhelm Church in Branksome (Poole, Dorset UK). Written into its constitution is the aim to provide an opportunity for amateur musicians to play the standard orchestral repertoire, to develop musical ability, to enhance the skills of ensemble playing and to contribute to the local cultural amenities. The name of the orchestra derives from our rehearsal venue, but we are non-denominational, and all orchestral musicians are welcome.’
