'Group of energetic and dedicated brass band players, whose main objective is to bring great brass band music to the general public, both locally and further afield. Our non-competing status allows us to be really flexible in our concerts as we play music appropriate to our audiences, because we are not constrained to the music imposed upon us by competition judges.'

‘Formed in 1874, has had a long and successful history. It aims to make choral music readily accessible to the wider community through live concerts, and to provide the opportunity for local people to develop their musical skills. In the past there were grand concerts in the Pontefract Assembly Rooms, with full professional orchestras and soloists. Now, financial considerations mean that these are no longer possible. This situation does, however, have its advantages, for we are able to use local musicians and soloists, many of them promising young performers at the start of their careers, who we are keen to encourage and support.’
