‘We are a group of people with a shared passion for the theatre organ who have formed the Furness Theatre Organ Project. Our intention, which has now been realised, is to own a working Wurlitzer Theatre Organ, by purchasing and fully restoring the ex Rex Cinema, Stratford, London Wurlitzer Organ and installing it in the Royalty Cinema, Bowness-on-Windermere. This is now a real jewel in the crown for Cumbria as we understand that there are no longer any other Wurlitzer Organs situated in a working cinema in the UK ... The organ is played before selected film presentations and for concerts.’
