‘Established in 1966 and is the oldest grant-supported jazz promoting body in the UK.’ Now dependent on discretionary funding rather than regular grants, together with assistance from international cultural bodies, and sharing costs with other promoters: ‘We aim to mount a regular programme of around 40 concerts per year’.

‘Founded in 2016, Northern Steel Network is a central hub for Steelbands and Steelpan players in the North East of England offering support, advice and education. Our aim is to advance the education of the public by encouraging the teaching, practice and performance of Steelpan music and Caribbean Culture.’

'A multi-award winning open-access community orchestra based in the North of England. We welcome players of all standards to our weekly meetings at eight venues between the Scottish Borders and North Yorkshire, and to our programme of study days, residential courses and concerts throughout the region and as far afield as Italy and Hungary. We are a friendly and welcoming group that exists so that people can enjoy playing music together. It is open to anyone who wants to come along and join in, whether they have just started learning an instrument, have been playing for years, or haven't played for years ... The Cobweb Orchestra as well as off-shoot groups such as The Baroque Ensemble, The Cobweb Cabaret Ensemble and The Cobweb Chamber Orchestra often give an eclectic variety of performances at various venues throughout the North of England. These concerts are nearly always free although we do invite you to make a donation to The Cobweb Orchestra.'

‘The Championships attract bands from Cleveland, Cumbria, Durham, East Riding of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire (formerly Humberside), North Yorkshire, Northumberland, and Tyne and Wear. Each band will compete in their respective graded section for the honour of representing the North of England, at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain.’
