'NADSA, as it has been affectionately known for almost the whole of its existence, was saddled with the title of Newton Abbot and District Society of Arts by its founding fathers back in 1946. To date there is no record of NADSA’s constitution ever being amended, so it is still living with such lofty aims as: “The Objects of the Society shall be to promote, maintain, improve and advance the education of the public in the arts and sciences of music, opera, ballet, drama, film, photography, literature, painting, drawing and sculpture by the presentation of performances, exhibitions and other activities.” ...'

‘Choir86 are based in Kingsteignton and enjoy rehearsing on Monday evenings. They have a new musical director, a new sound and are at the top of their game! ... Choir 86 comprises around 40 - 50 members with the predominant strength in numbers being found in the soprano and alto ranks. Tenors and basses are smaller sections but as always make up for their numbers through making a significant noise! The blend is in fact very pleasing and the sound quality is well received by our audiences.‘

‘We are the only permanent theatrical group operating in the town of Newton Abbot, Devon, England and we are a member of N.O.D.A. ... We produce a Pantomime in early January followed by a musical show later in the year. This is sometimes supplemented by a NEWTS production – our junior society – which usually takes place in the spring ... The Pantomimes ... have become so successful that they now provide the majority of the income of the Society.’

Has developed significantly in recent years, having been originally formed in the 1970s. Now tackles relatively ambitious works, and presents concerts at several venues around and about Newton Abbot: ‘We don't hold formal auditions, but after sharing info by email we usually suggest that you attend for a couple of rehearsals to see if the NAO is for you (and vice versa). We do have some younger players, though a minimum of Grade 5 standard is recommended’.

‘A fun group of ladies of all ages, from 16 upwards who get together for the enjoyment of singing well known songs in a capella four part harmony. Members come from a variety of backgrounds but with so much in common; our love for singing, our desire to learn to sing better through education and to be part of a friendly, happy chorus.‘
