‘This is a musical scholarship awarded annually to an outstanding, young musician either born or educated in Cumbria. The Award is competed for annually in a Preliminary Round Concert and a Finals Concert, to both of which the public are invited. The winner receives a cheque for £1000 and the Reg Griffiths Trophy. The runner-up receives a cheque for £500 and the Geoffrey Blake Trophy. The other two finalists each receive £250. All other competitors each receive £50 toward the expense of competing ... You should have been born/educated in Cumbria and be aged 16-22 at the beginning of July in the year of the competition. You must have passed Grade 8 or be currently studying at grade 8 standard.’
