'This popular and highly acclaimed course provides an excellent opportunity for experienced players of viols and recorders to work on early music in a chamber setting. Under the guidance of our team of expert tutors, highly regarded as performers and teachers, participants are able to develop their technical and musical skills in an informal, friendly and supportive environment. Many of our participants sing, or maybe play other early instruments, which are very welcome in the evening Tutti sessions and some ensembles. Please note that due to the structure of the course all participants need to be able to play viol or recorder.' Held Early April.

'We’re very proud of Monmouth Festival and the part it plays in publicising this lovely town and the surrounding area. It attracts thousands of visitors from far and wide and not only do businesses benefit from their association with this uniquely creative community led Festival but for some shops, cafes, and pubs it is their busiest time of year.' Held Early August.

‘The Wye Valley Chamber Music Festival has grown into a truly important event in the cultural calendar of this beautiful area. Each year the Festival stages chamber music concerts of exceptional quality in intimate and historic venues ... Wye Valley Chamber Music Festival has retained a unique character. It was founded with a passion that still infuses the festival and is being passed onto the next generation of chamber musicians through the Summer Residency.’ Festival held Mid February.

'Promotes chamber music concerts in venues in the Wye Valley ...  It showcases promising students and supports artists launching their careers, but most of our events will be performed by world-class musicians on their way to a world-class career. Some will already have arrived. We choose our venues mainly on the basis of their kind acoustic qualities for the types of music we present ... Run on a shoestring by a small group of volunteers, we could do more and better if we had more helpers willing to spend a few hours a week on interesting, worthwhile projects.'

'A non-contesting, community brass band ... We are situated between the vibrant banding communities of South Wales and the Forest of Dean. And while there is no pressure of contesting, we perform in several key engagements throughout the year including the Monmouth Festival and Monmouthshire Show.'

‘Big band repertoire spreads back nearly a hundred years, with so much variety of style and feel – all of it sizzling with that quintessential vibrant sound ... In addition to scorching swing numbers, we play smooth Latin, “strictly”-style dance tunes, well-known vocal numbers and classic jazz numbers. The music cascades off the stage with all the vibrancy you’d expect from a 20-piece live band ... What unites all the music is the big band format of 5 saxes, 4 trombones, 4 trumpets (who all play stratospherically high) and rhythm section.’

‘The tradition of Welsh male voice choirs grew up out of mining, industrial and religious heritage. Music that is soulful, virile and powerful, yet sensitive and moving. Monmouth Male Voice Choir seeks to uphold that tradition. The Choir was formed in 2012 by a small group of men ... and now has around 50 members. The choir has achieved great things during its short existence ... A warm welcome will be given to all, so come along, dip your toes in the water and see how you like it ... You'll be welcomed with open arms - we're a widely varied, friendly and inclusive bunch.’

'The Blake Theatre opened its doors in 2004. When Monmouth School refurbished its original building we decided we should share the theatre with you, our local community. So we have a part time team who are here to help you. Not only do we aim to provide an interesting range of shows, we are also available to hire for those groups seeking a professional venue for their production.'
