+ Chelmsford Male Voice Choir
Listing Details
Chelmsford Male Voice Choir gave their first concert in the Corn Exchange, Chelmsford on Monday 26th November 1900. The profits were given to the Essex County Chronicle Shilling Fund for Essex Soldiers and their Dependents. In 1927 the choir was amalgamated into the Chelmsford Singers and no longer existed in its own right. However, a new choir was started in 1950 by a group of young men who felt the need for a choir in Chelmsford. The musical director was Bill Gane, who was eventually succeeded by his son Jack. The choir currently has a membership of approximately 45, drawn from many walks of life. Our repertoire includes many modern as well as traditional male voice choir pieces and we continue to entertain the residents of Chelmsford and further afield. New members are always welcome.'
