+ Basingstoke Male Voice Choir
Listing Details
Formed 1964: ‘The Choir always welcomes new potential members. Novice or experienced singers can come along to our rehearsals, sit in with us, join in with us. Whilst having the ability to read music would be an asset it is by no-means a requirement. Potential members are first given a period of a few weeks to become familiar with the Choir’s requirements and procedures whilst rehearsing within their particular section: either Bass, Baritone, Second Tenor, or Top Tenor. When you feel comfortable and you decide that you would like to become a full member, a private audition with the Musical Director is arranged. This takes the form of singing scales and notes within your voice range so that the Musical Director can judge where best your vocal range fits within the choir. Although it sounds terribly formal be assured it is far from it and you can be sure of our help and support in encouraging you to use your voice’.
