+ Hitchin Chamber Orchestra

‘Formerly known as Hitchin Concert Orchestra, was founded in 1929 by Mary Ibberson at the Rural Music Schools Association. The orchestra was for many years run as an evening class at North Hertfordshire College but, when the College authorities decided in 1997 that artistic ventures such as the orchestra were no longer financially supportable, it became a self-governing body and changed its name. The orchestra’s motto is “Promoting Live Music” and its aim is to promote live orchestral music in the Hitchin area by providing audiences with symphonic concerts performed to a high standard and to serve as a concert platform for local musicians, whether orchestral players or soloists.’

+ Hitchin Symphony Orchestra

Based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire with members living in Hertfordshire and the neighbouring counties of Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, NHGS is one of the best-known and best-supported choral groups in the area with a membership of about 140 singers and an ever-growing reputation for high standards of music making’.

+ North Herts Guild of Singers

'Founded 1969 ... Our repertoire includes music in many styles, from Renaissance and Baroque to contemporary pieces composed by members of the choir. We also let our hair down with rousing renditions of lighter songs, traditional spirituals and popular standards. A friendly and light-hearted group covering a wide age range, we take our music making seriously but have fun doing it.'
