! Hemel Hempstead KEY

'We usually have four concerts a year. Typically the Easter and October/November concerts are classical and the Christmas and Summer concerts less formal. Concert venues are usually in Hemel Hempstead, where we can be accompanied by a variety of instruments including piano, organ, harp or small orchestra. Occasionally we join forces with other choirs ... to allow us to perform larger scale works.'

+ Aeolian Singers

‘Founded in 1947, we have about 100 members who come from Chipperfield and the surrounding area. Our repertoire is wide and varied. Every year just before Christmas there are traditional Christmas Concerts in the wonderful setting of St Paul’s village church in Chipperfield. In the spring, the concert features a major work given in a larger venue and in the summer we return to St Paul’s for a concert of lighter music.’

+ Chipperfield Choral Society

'We aim to give members the opportunity to sing together in a choir, perhaps for the first time, singing a wide repertoire from classical, world music and folk to gospel and pop. You don’t need to be able to read music to take part – it’s all explained as we go along ... Unlike many other choirs, we rehearse during the day, providing a chance to sing for those who are unable to join an evening group. Our membership therefore reflects a wide range of the community, from students, young parents, those not working during the morning, to those who are retired. There are no auditions – all adults are welcome.'

+ Dacorum Community Choir

‘The full brass band of 25 players regularly performs at a variety of public and private functions such as: carnivals, fetes, park bandstands, church events, sports meetings, weddings, shopping centres, Remembrance Day parades, and its own concerts, mostly within easy reach of the Dacorum district of Hertfordshire.‘

+ Hemel Hempstead Band

‘The Hemel Symphony Orchestra came into existence in the autumn of 2018. Most of its members had previously played in the Dacorum Symphony Orchestra, which for various reasons closed at about the same time. The DSO had a long history going back over forty years and we are pleased to acknowledge its legacy.’ Planning to present four concerts per annum.

+ Hemel Symphony Orchestra

Formed 2008: ‘We are an A Cappella choir with a reputation for strong melodic singing delivered through layered harmonies. The choir’s repertoire embraces a wide range of popular music - pop, gospel, folk, traditional, international and more ... Enjoyment of the Choir is such that membership is consistently at or near full. However enquiries from anyone interested in joining are always welcome’.

+ Kings Langley Community Choir

‘Formerly known as KLLOC, is a small and friendly amateur theatre group that performs one show a year in the village of Kings Langley in Hertfordshire. Performances are held at the Kings Langley Community Centre, built for the purpose of Music and Theatre. There is a licensed bar, tiered seating, orchestra pit and a very warm welcome.’

+ Kings Langley Musical Theatre Company

‘Built in 1852, a buzzing arts space full of entertainment for everyone: Art Comedy Dance Film Families Music Theatre.’
