‘The object of the Festival is to advance the education of the public in the arts, and in particular the arts of Music, Speech and Drama in all their branches. The Festival is an Educational Trust, as started by the Harrogate Town Council as it then was, aiming to improve and enhance the performing skills of musical, singing and speech and drama students. To this end, a wide variety of classes is held encompassing solo performers, duets and groups both large and small, in all of the arts of Music, Speech and Drama.’ Held During March.

‘Offers ensemble experience to young & adult musicians. We have orchestras & bands ranging from beginner to senior level.’

'Formerly the Wesley Chapel, we are available to town centre communities every day of the week. Our landmark building in its central location allows us to engage with the community in many ways by connecting with voluntary services, charities, businesses and other organisations ...  Our Concert Series continues to attract artists with international reputations ... Bringing such a wonderful series of concerts to Harrogate is not without its costs. Although almost entirely volunteer-run, artist and venue costs are now approaching £16,000 annually. We do not receive grants. Ticket sales and donations only partly meet running costs, hence our patrons scheme ...'

’We're seriously entertaining and are a popular choice for performing at concerts and all sorts of great events. As well as putting on fantastic concerts we compete regularly so our standard of playing is consistently high and we have a reputation for innovation and performing exciting contemporary music. Why not come and see us perform? You'll love what we do and we'd love to see you.‘

‘HCS are a high quality, mixed voice, open age choir, that perform a variety of concerts in the Harrogate area. We are open to new members of with or without prior singing experience, who want to perform with a leading choir ... Within the Harrogate Choral Society there are three choral groups; The Halcyon Singers, a group of young singers who sing with the Choral Society and as a separate entity, Beati, who are a group of 10 female voices and give concerts for charity, and the Harrogate Polyphonic Choir, which is a chamber choir who, as well as Beati are available to sing at weddings, corporate events and special functions.‘

‘Was formed in 1972 by a group of G & S enthusiasts with our first production in Harrogate Theatre in May 1973. The Society has gone from strength to strength over the years and has continued to stage a production each May or June in the same theatre. Since 1986, in addition to our stage production we have held two Christmas concerts each year in conjunction with the world-famous Brighouse and Rastrick Band.’

‘We are a friendly group of male singers who enjoy singing in the Barbershop, close harmony style ... We sing for our own enjoyment and undertake a number of local engagements every year. We welcome new members whether experienced singers or complete novices. There is no need to read music as training CDs are provided as an aid to learning our repertoire of popular songs. We also welcome enquiries from local clubs and societies who are looking for singing entertainment at their gatherings.’

'Semi-professional chamber orchestra, giving three concerts each year and accompanying choral societies around the area.'

'Can trace our roots back to 1931 when the Harrogate String Orchestra replaced the Municipal Orchestra. From this grew the Harrogate Chamber Orchestra, and then as numbers grew and demand for larger scale works developed, we became the Harrogate Symphony Orchestra in 1991. The aims have always been the same: to give players a chance to explore a wide range of orchestral music on a regular basis and to present concerts to as wide an audience as possible. For nearly 30 years we have tried to encourage a younger audience too through workshops, free tickets for under 11s and concerts specifically designed for children.'

The Company was founded in 1995 to perform at the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival - held Mid August, in recent years in Harrogate, Yorkshire. As well as professional performances, ‘the Festival brings together a wonderful mix of leading amateur performing groups who compete for the coveted Festival Champion’s Trophy’. In additional to its performances at the Festival, the Company tours productions in a number of venues before and after the Festival itself: ‘The Opera Company is completely self-sufficient and does not receive a penny of public funding. I don’t think there are many other opera companies of a similar stature who can say that today!’

‘Popular and sociable chamber choir made up of 30 members ... singing a wide range of music both sacred and secular dating from the 1500s to the 21th century. We perform 4 concerts a year of which at least one is dedicated to raising money for a nominated charity. We perform concerts in a wide range of settings and are equally at home performing at weddings and other events as requested ... The choir was formed in 1974 under the name of Harrogate Chamber Singers and gained a reputation for choral excellence which has continued to the present day.’

Organize a 'series of monthly organ recitals, on (or as close to) the first Wednesday evening of each month ... Recitals begin at 7:30pm and last for one hour ... The main pipe organ in St Wilfrid’s was built by Harrison & Harrison of Durham in 1928, and unusually, they have looked after it ever since. Also unusually, the organ has never been altered ... It remains, therefore, as a rare surviving unaltered organ of the period, and is recognised as an instrument of historical importance ... Now, the need for a full restoration is imperative, and the organ has been placed into retirement until the necessary funds can be raised to do that work ... Purchased from Newcastle Cathedral in 2021, the Phoenix Digital organ is a 4-manual digital instrument in use for almost all services.'
