‘Begun on a shoestring in 1995, the Stoke Newington Early Music Festival has grown and flourished through the years. Generously supported by local businesses — but always independent of public funding — it is now an indispensable feature of the Stoke Newington summer, loved by local residents and by fans of early music from everywhere.’ Held Mid July.

'One of the UK’s premier jazz venues, programming almost 400 performances a year in an intimate space. We were winner of the Live Jazz Award category at the 2013 Parliamentary Jazz Awards. As a volunteer-led jazz club in North London, Dalston, we have been given the accolade of being one of the world’s best, and have even been singled out by the prestigious Downbeat magazine as one the top 150 jazz venues in the world.'

‘Founded in 2019, Gothic Opera curates mysterious performances of rarely-seen operas in uncanny, atmospheric spaces, taking the dark, eerie intensity of gothic fiction as its starting point.’

‘A150-strong community choir drawing members from Hackney, surrounding boroughs and across London ... We present at least two concerts a year, working with professional orchestras and soloists, and particularly the Forest Philharmonic ... We are different from many other singing groups. We have an open-door policy and do not hold auditions — everybody, regardless of experience, is welcome to join the Thursday night rehearsals.’

‘A community choir which has been performing major choral works in Hackney since 1997 ...  We rehearse and perform at St. John of Jerusalem Church and, although we are not a church choir, members have also sung in church events, including the annual carol service ... The choir is open to all regardless of ethnicity, age, religion, gender, nationality, identity, sexual orientation, disability or political affiliation and no one is excluded from membership on financial grounds. There are no auditions and the choir includes people with a variety of musical experience.’

‘The only surviving Elizabethan Church in London and one of the oldest in the country to have been built as an Anglican church ... The Old Church is a fabulous venue for a variety of artistic and community events: concerts, exhibitions, art workshops, dancing, singing, meditation, drumming ... Our flexible atmospheric space with its wonderful acoustic is perfect for them all. We can seat an audience of 110 – all with a good view.’
