Contemporary Ensembles

'As a world-leading contemporary ensemble, BCMG has premiered over 160 works, most commissioned through its pioneering Sound Investment scheme, with a family of Investors supporting each new piece. In addition, BCMG’s extensive Learning and Participation Programme supports young people as composers, performers and listeners of new music through an exciting range of projects in- and out-of-school.'

'Cantata Dramatica is a not-for-profit organisation ... whose objective is to commission and promote new music. We work with a mix of professional and amateur performers at many different levels and we aim to provide a rewarding creative experience for all.'

'The Ensemble has a core of 8 or so musicians but one of its strengths is a versatility which enables it to perform music outside the scope of most chamber ensembles. With a reputation for binging a "liberal seasoning of vivacity and wit" to performances, the ensemble carefully curates programmes which are both imaginative and accessible. Proving time and time again that music - often sadly dismissed as "difficult" - can be a richly rewarding experience.'

'We are a unique orchestra working for composers. We invite them to send us new music. We workshop the pieces, give feedback to the composers, and we perform and record the revised versions of the best pieces. Our annual programme usually consists two main projects: 1. A Call for Scores open to all composers. We workshop the pieces and choose some for our annual concert; 2. A project with London Composers' Forum, in which their members write pieces on a specific theme. These will come together in our annual early-Summer concert. We will also offer the composers the chance to have a studio recording made of their pieces.'

'Places the best contemporary classical music at the heart of today’s culture; engaging and challenging the public through inspiring performances of the highest standard, and taking risks to develop new work and talent. Founded in 1968, the ensemble's commitment to new music has seen it commission over 350 works, and premiere many hundreds more.'

‘A London-based, flexible group of musicians and collaborators, founded in 2009. They produce events that focus on presenting contemporary music (existing and newly commissioned works) often in conjunction with compositions from older eras, around a certain narrative, reinforced by dramatic, multimedia or other elements.’
