+ Band of the West Midlands Fire Service

'The Band was formed in 1984 by a group of serving firemen, many of whom had never handled a wind instrument before; however, they had a common goal, to make music! Initially the Band was only open to serving firemen and their families, but after 15 successful years the number of Band members started to fall and the decision was made to allow members of the West Midlands community to join the Band. Today the Band has a membership of approximately 55 and an ever growing reputation for providing its audiences with high quality performances of a wide range of musical styles. As it is difficult to fit 45 musicians into some venues the Band has formed a number of different sized ensembles and, in conjunction with the West Midlands Fire Service Pipe Band, are able to provide music for just about any occasion; Parades, Fairs, Concerts, Birthdays, Weddings and Funerals!'
