‘Founded in 1982 as the YMCA Glasgow Wind Orchestra ... In 2017, the band formally changed its name to The City of Glasgow Wind Orchestra. We continue to give concerts throughout the year and the number of players is at an all time high ... Our membership includes youth and experience — a wide range of ages and musical backgrounds. Our repertoire is extensive – Marches, Overtures, Classical Music, music from Stage and Screen, Solo Features, and Contemporary pieces all feature. We are not a competing band, but find other opportunities to play. We give concerts in and around the Glasgow area and are invited to all sorts of venues and events.’
