‘Founded in 2002 ... as an amateur orchestra to provide an opportunity for people available during the day who wish to get together simply to enjoy making music ... As the word “rehearsal” implies there is no commitment to a formal programme of concerts, although we do occasionally play for schools and other groups ... Rehearsals, although originally in St.Albans, are now conducted in Hatfield, on Wednesday mornings during school term time. The orchestra is self funding through subscriptions from members, payable each term. There are no formal auditions although a reasonable playing standard is required.’
