‘Constituted in February 2004 to promote education in and the appreciation of music through the preparation and presentation of public orchestral concerts ... The orchestra currently comprises over 50 members of diverse ability whose main motivation is the enjoyment of making music together of good quality and at a level of performance that stretches their abilities. The repertoire of the orchestra is varied and comprises movements of orchestral works by composers such as Haydn, Mozart, Handel and Schubert together with a number of shorter programmatic pieces and some original compositions by members or friends of the orchestra ... Where possible the Society responds positively to requests for concerts in support of charitable concerns.’
