The Category Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is a subset of Highlands and Islands.

'Students come from across the world to the school, held annually in July in Dalabrog, South Uist, to experience traditional music and dance in a community setting. Expert tuition in piping, fiddle, song, dance and the Gaelic language are offered over a backdrop of community events, including cèilidhs, concerts and guided walks.' Held Early July.

‘Four day festival set against the unique backdrop of the the Hebrides. Organised by the HCF Trust, this first festival was held in 1996 and now regularly attracts attendances of 14,000 over its four day run. Wild, but not a bit woolly, this festival has built up a fabulously loyal audience locally and from across the world, many of whom have Hebridean ties, many of whom just love coming here and joining in the great party. The festival is a not for profit event run by the community for the community, supported by local and national funding agencies, the goodwill of local businesses and community, and the many volunteers who give of their free time to make it happen.’ Held Mid July.

'Stornoway, the principal town of the Island of Lewis in the Western Isles of Scotland, is home of the Lewis Pipe Band. The Band parade in the town centre every Saturday evening from the end of May till the end of August, weather permitting! ... As well as competing, the Band plays at a variety of events and gala days throughout the Western Isles ... The Band is purely a voluntary body, and a registered charity, the Members receive no payment for their services, and it is totally dependent on public support for its continued existence.'

‘Began in 2007 with support from Comhairle nan Eilean Siar. It is one of a growing network of NYCoS Area Choirs across Scotland ... NYCoS Isle of Lewis Choir recruits annually from Primary 3 and 4 in the Western Isles area. Our free half-hour workshops are a fun and informal way to try out singing and games with others (where possible, with children from the same school). Our staff will then assess each singer's potential for membership to the choir.’
