! Cirencester KEY

‘An auditioned choir of 26 singers who love to sing a varied programme of old and new sacred and secular choral music often in 8 or more parts. We are good sight readers and enjoy the challenge of new music. Our ambition is to put on quality performances. Cantores is primarily an a capella choir but our repertoire includes some accompanied works.’

+ Cantores Chamber Choir

‘Founded in 1905 in the village of Chedworth, Gloucestershire ... We support ourselves by playing at local fetes, concerts and other events. Our repertoire includes classical arrangements, compositions for brass band by "giants" such as William Rimmer, and Derek Broadbent, musicals, marches and arrangements of recent popular songs. We are not a contest band and do not take part in competitions.’

+ Chedworth Silver Band

‘We are a thriving and friendly society of around 120 members performing autumn and spring concerts each year, supplemented by biennial charity Christmas concerts and summer choral workshops ... With the support of professional soloists and orchestras, we perform unjustifiably neglected works as well as the more popular favourites from the choral repertoire and our concerts are well reviewed. By keeping our ticket prices affordable and membership rates competitive, we attract good audiences and maintain a high membership level, thus making an important contribution to the cultural life of our town.’

+ Cirencester Choral Society

‘A friendly, versatile orchestra based in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. We perform two concerts per year in the Cotswold area from a varied repertoire ... We rehearse for about 8 weeks prior to a concert ... We extend a warm welcome to new members. All instruments are welcome to apply as we can add to the waiting list for future opportunities.’

+ Cirencester Philharmonia

‘Established in Cirencester in 1999 by Sandra Dukes, to create an opportunity for classical guitarists to develop their musical skills and perform as an ensemble. The Ensemble today comprises a junior, intermediate and senior section who also combine into a unique Guitar Orchestra. They have also ... an adult group which is proving very popular with guitarists of all standards coming from all over the county.’

+ Corinium Players Guitar Ensemble

Arose out of a ‘Palm Sunday Choir’ formed in 1995 which developed into the Choral Society in 2006: ‘Our aim is to perform choral music of many different types from the 15th Century to the 21st, to as high a standard as possible. To help us in this we engage soloists and accompanists who are professionals singing and playing in some of the finest choirs in Britain ... Our aim is not only to encourage high standards but to be a welcoming and friendly society ... Performances normally take place around Easter and in the Autumn and there are between 10 and 12 weeks of rehearsal for each’.

+ Fairford and District Choral Society
