+ Atherstone Choral Society
Listing Details
'A large non-audition SATB choir that was formed in 1974 ... Today it maintains a choral tradition that began with Handel (Messiah, 1741) and now extends to include Bach, The Beatles and L’Estrange (Zimbe, 2008). The choir aims to prepare four new concerts each year. Variety is the spice of life, so two (Spring and Autumn usually) are based around one or two well-known pieces from different musical periods. At Christmas we combine the seasonal story with a more secular celebratory tone while the Summer concert is usually a selection of lighter and more modern music. We always aim to perform at least one concert a year in our home town of Atherstone.'
