'Rehearsals run from early September through to our concert in mid-December, then from early January to the concert in late April/early May. New members are always welcome - no auditions ... Despite the good audiences that the choir's performances attract, ticket sales do not cover the considerable costs of mounting concerts with professional soloists and a full orchestra. Like other similar choirs, therefore, the Choral Society has to charge its members a subscription ... as well as running various fund-raising events.'
