+ Saltwood Choral Society
Based in Saltwood, Hythe, Kent: ‘The Society was founded in 1921. It was always intended that it should remain a small choir to serve the needs of village life and over the years membership has fluctuated between 30 and 40, except in 1948 when it had a record 60 members. The current membership is just over 50 ... The Society performs two or three concerts during the year. The programmes have been varied, ranging, in a lighter vein from Gilbert and Sullivan, Edward German and “Songs from the Shows”, to the classical choir repertoire of Bach, Fauré, Handel, Haydn, Mendelssohn and Vivaldi. At Christmas, the Society has a carol concert in the church’.
