Founded 1846: ‘Exeter Philharmonic Choir, which has around 115 members, has a long tradition of singing a wide range of choral music, old and new. The choir gives three major concerts a year and performs evenings of Christmas Carols in Exeter Cathedral ... Choir membership is subject to an audition, both on application for membership and every four or five years thereafter. The audition consists of the performance of a prepared piece of your choice to demonstrate your vocal technique, exercises, such as scale singing, to establish your vocal range, and the singing of a piece unseen’.
