+ Cecilia Consort
Listing Details
‘An auditioned chamber choir of some 40 local singing enthusiasts ... All members of the choir have a strong enough musical background that each is able to work on music on their own before the start of rehearsals ... The choir’s first concert as The Cecilia Consort was a performance of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and Vivaldi’s Gloria at St Mary’s Church, Speen in July 1990. Ever since then the Consort, which sings primarily a capella or with organ accompaniment, has performed two or three concerts each year, covering a repertoire of sacred and secular music from across a broad historical span that is not typically tackled by choral societies.‘
